Brooklyn Reading Works presents open mic for food writers in Park Slope

Brooklyn Reading Works invites the public to come share a poem or story (fiction or non-fiction) about food (food as subject matter or metaphor) at FEAST, the organization’s annual fundraiser for a local food pantry. The event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. at the Old Stone House in Park Slope.

Your $10 donation will go to a local food pantry and includes soup, snacks and wine.

There will be an 8-minute time limit (strictly enforced) for each reader.

Ken Carlton, author of “The Hunger: A Story of Food, Desire and Ambition with the Chef of the Waverly Inn,” will open the event with an excerpt from his novel “Food for Marriage”. Ame Gilbert, who runs Poetry Soup Salon, is organizing, cooking and hosting this event and will make it as smart, cozy and delicious as her monthly salons.

IF YOU PLAN TO READ: Please arrive at 7:45 p.m.

LOCATION: The Old Stone House, 336 Third Street, between 4th and 5th Avenues.
