Matthew Goodman’s new project: Eighty Days

According to Brooklyn Eagle, Brooklyn author Matthew Goodman has been working on a fascinating project, recreating the true story of two adventurous young female reporters who set out to travel the world in 1889.  In Eighty Days: Nelly Bly and Elizabeth Bisland’s History-Making Race Around the World, Goodman draws on years of extensive research to revive this captivating slice of history.  He illuminates the journey that these brave women embarked on in their quest to circumnavigate the globe in less than eighty days, enriching his tale with historical details and remarkable characters. Eighty Days goes on sale in February, so stay tuned for further details and updates.

Goodman has a knack for recreating history.  In 2008, he published The Sun and the Moon, chronicling what became known as the “Moon Hoax:” In the summer of 1835, Richard Adams Locke, an editor of a New York publication The Sun, fooled a vast audience into believing that astronomers had discovered life on the moon.  Matthew Goodman has also published nonfiction pieces in The Forward, Harvard Review, and The American Scholar, and his fiction stories have appeared in Georgia Review, the New England Review, and Witness. Goodman lives in Brooklyn with his family.
