Williamsburg venue Muchmore’s is hosting the inaugural event in a series called Silent Reading NYC this Sunday, March 16. Inspired by Christopher Frizelle, editor of Seattle newspaper The Stranger and frequent host of silent reading parties at Seattle’s Sorento Hotel, Brooklyn resident Jamie Burns created the Brooklyn-based series to offer literary folk a chance get out, grab some reading material and have a few drinks alongside other New Yorkers who love books.  Notable harpist Brandee Younger will be playing at the kickoff event, so the atmosphere is sure to be ambient. Silent Reading Party NYC will continue monthly and is free to attend (though books and drinks are on readers).

The March 16 event will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Muchmore’s is located at 2 Havemeyer St. in Williamsburg.
