This Thursday night, join debut novelist Karen Thompson Walker at Fort Greene’s Greenlight Bookstore to celebrate the release of The Age of Miracles. Over the next several weeks, the Park Slope writer will be touring the country to promote her book. Already receiving high praise, Walker’s novel infuses the coming-of-age tale with a magical spin: her characters wake up one day to realize that time has begun to slow down.
We are excited to hear that Walker takes pride in her Brooklyn residency; in fact, she has reported that she rarely leaves her neighborhood on a Sunday. The former Simon & Schuster editor now writes full-time from her home in Park Slope.
Brooklynites will have several chances to meet Walker and show support as three of her book-signings will take place in Brooklyn! After this Thursday’s launch party, Walker will again appear in Brooklyn on Friday, July 13 at BookCourt in Cobble Hill, and then again on Tuesday, July 31, at the powerhouse Arena in DUMBO.
“The Age of Miracles” launch party, free and open to the public, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 28, at Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton St., in Fort Greene. Subsequent Brooklyn readings are scheduled for Friday, July 13, at BookCourt, 163 Court St., Cobble Hill, at a still-unannounced time, and for 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, at the powerHouse Arena, 37 Main St., DUMBO.
