Tomorrow at Greenpoint Library: Eva Stachniak on writing ‘The Winter Palace’

Tomorrow, December 6, Polish author Eva Stachniak will appear at Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Library to discuss her recently published historical novel, The Winter Palace: A Novel of Catherine the Great.  Already receiving high praise, Stachniak’s book infuses the novel format with historical research from letters and diaries, effectively portraying one of history’s most intriguing female leaders.  Through the eyes of a fictional Polish servant, Varvara, Stachniak traces Catherine’s reign from its unexpected beginnings to its peak, mixing history with compelling elements of imagination.
