The 12th Annual National Black Writers Conference, featuring such acclaimed writers as Walter Mosley and Angela Davis, will be held from March 27-30 at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. Events include panel discussions, author readings, workshops, a poetry café, and a film series. There will also be an awards program for the honorees, among whom are Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, bestselling author Walter Mosley, author and poet Quincy Troupe, and French-Caribbean writer Maryse Conde.
The film presentation will include a screening of Gordon Park’s “Solomon Northup’s Odyssey”, which, like the Oscar-winning movie “12 Year’s a Slave,” was based on Solomon Northup’s memoir. Other participants in this three-day event include Ayana Mathis, William Jelani Cobb and more.
